February 18th

Mark had a very early start this morning walking around at 6 o'clock listening for the Tawny Owl which he managed to get .Taking the years total so far upto 67 , as we are trying for that magical 100 species this year . I was there for a couple of hours before having to leave for work , but there was no sign of any Hawfinch or Brambling . All I managed was eleven Canada Geese , six Pochard , a single Siskin several Redwing , thirteen Great Crested Grebe , four Bullfinch , three Goldfinch and a Treecreeper in the car park .Two Hawfinch still present at 14-15 , also female Goldeneye and now seven Pochard. In same area as Hawfinch are six Bullfinch. M Stubbs.  John had the pair of Brambling in the copse this morning .
